SABAH JAPEN TO FOCUS ON THREE ICONIC LOCATIONS TO BOOST NATIONAL DAY, MALAYSIA DAY CELEBRATIONS

Sabah Information Department (JaPen) will organise the ‘Semarak Gemilang’ programme to boost the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 celebrations by focusing on three iconic locations in the state from July 29.

Its director, Jainisah Mohd Noor said the three locations are the traditional villages in Keningau; the landmarks in Sipitang; and the water villages in Sandakan.

She said these locations were picked in line with the theme to be highlighted to generate excitement and further boost the national month celebrations, besides being a platform to strengthen unity among the people.

“These are iconic locations to be highlighted and, among others, depict the uniqueness of Sabah because the areas chosen are densely populated by people of various races.

“We will include elements of unity and togetherness in line with the objective of the programme, namely to nurture a feeling of love for the country and spirit of Malaysia MADANI among the people by enlivening the Fly the Jalur Gemilang initiative,” she told Bernama.

Jainisah said the programme would be implemented in collaboration with the strategic partners of Sabah JaPen as one of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign activities this year.

She said the programme would also include community activities, distribution of flags and sprucing up the areas involved by decorating them with the Jalur Gemilang together with the locals.

In addition, the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang convoy would continue its exploration to all districts in Sabah, involving a distance of 2,300 kilometres, she said.

Jainisah said they would implement the main event of the convoy in the six selected districts, namely Tuaran, Sandakan, Tawau, Keningau, Sipitang and Kota Kinabalu with various exciting activities, such as entrepreneurship carnivals, ‘kenduri rakyat’ and sports for the people.

She hopes Sabahans will always show their love for the country by flying the Jalur Gemilang, staying united and maintaining the existing harmony.
