Samdech Khuon Sudary Visits Huawei in Beijing

Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, led a delegation to visit Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. in Beijing on Sept. 23 , during her stay in China for a five-day official and friendly visit.

Samdech Khuon Sudary underscored the crucial role of technology in promoting effective governance and reform.

She urged Huawei to increase its investment in Cambodia’s digital transformation, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors, and in developing digital skills.

‘Huawei should work closely with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) to enhance ICT infrastructure and promote a whole-of-government and whole-of-society digital transformation,’ Samdech Khuon Sudary suggested.

During the visit, Mr. Wang Ke, a senior representative from Huawei, highlighted the company’s substantial contributions to Cambodia’s ICT infrastructure development, digital transformation, and capacity building over the past 25 years.

He emphasised Huawei’s comm
itment to working closely with the Cambodian government and other key stakeholders to achieve the strategic goals outlined in Cambodia’s pentagonal strategy.

‘Huawei has been instrumental in advancing digital trade, digital tourism, smart manufacturing, digital government, and digital inclusion in Cambodia. We are dedicated to continuing our support to realize a digital Cambodia,’ he said.

He highlighted the potential of the Industrial and Technological Corridor, under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation and the Diamond Cooperation between Cambodia and China, to drive Cambodia’s economic growth and achieve Vision 2050 as a high-income country.

The National Data Centre, digital inclusion, and transformation across various sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, creative industries, finance, smart customs, smart cities, digital trade, manufacturing, e-government, and tourism are key enablers for realising Cambodia’s Vision 2050.

The visit marks a significant step in strengthen
ing the digital partnership between Cambodia and Huawei, paving the way for a more digitally inclusive and advanced Cambodia.
