Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister Says History is Important for a Better Future

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said history is so important to build a better future, especially in the context of Cambodia.

At the inauguration ceremony of Cheung Aek Sewage Treatment Plant in Phnom Penh’s Khan Meanchey this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed that every part of Cambodia’s territory has its own sad story that he and others can recall or tell the next generations.

‘Cheung Aek is a real case. Today, Cheung Aek looks the same as other parts of Phnom Penh. Cheung Aek has roads and construction projects, but it was the place where some 20,000 people were killed by the Khmer Rouge,’ he said.

The Royal Government of Cambodia will mark the 25th Anniversary of the Win-Win Policy to be held at the Win-Win Memorial in Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh on Dec. 29, he added, underlining that ‘there is no need to have a Peace Day, the day that leads to the end of war and territorial unification is the Peace Day.’

‘We have faced internal conflicts for over 500 years. The
current peace, national unity and development were obtained thanks to the Win Win policy which put an end to the civil war in Cambodia 25 years ago,’ the Premier said.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet re-appealed to his compatriots to join hands in maintaining peace to ensure the national development and prosperity.
