SEOUL, Samsung Engineering Co. on Tuesday reported its fourth-quarter net profit of 112.4 billion won (US$84.6 million), down 37.5 percent from a year earlier.

The company said in a regulatory filing that it posted 269.9 billion won in operating profit for the quarter, compared with 214.5 billion won a year ago. Revenue fell 3.8 percent to 2.82 trillion won.

The earnings failed to meet market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 154.4 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
