Samsung SDS Co. on Thursday reported its fourth-quarter net profit of 146 billion won (US$109.4 million), down 42.1 percent from a year earlier.

The company said in a regulatory filing that it posted 214.5 billion won in operating profit for the quarter, compared with 187.5 billion won a year ago. Sales fell 20.5 percent to 3.37 trillion won.

The earnings fell short of market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 184.9 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
