Senate President Receives a Member of Japanese Diet


Cambodian President of the Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, received here this morning visiting H.E. Yamaguchi Natsuo, Member of the House of Councillors in the National Diet of Japan and President of Japan’s Komeito Party.

In the meeting, H.E. Yamaguchi Natsuo shared his close feeling to Samdech Techo Hun Sen by presenting a commemorative photo when late former Prime Minister of Japan H.E. Shinzo Abe held a birthday party for Samdech Techo in Tokyo in 2017.

H.E. Yamaguchi Natsuo also recalled his first visit to Cambodia in 1991 and briefed the Cambodian senate president on some of the outcomes of his working visit to Cambodia this time, including his talks with Cambodian leaders on mine clearance, cyber security, trade, economy, investment, climate change and so on.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked H.E. Yamaguchi Natsuo for his sharing, and emphasised that he always adheres to the principle of valuing peace before anything else, because without peace, there is neither democr
acy nor human rights.

‘Peace is priceless because with peace, we can have everything we have today,’ he underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended his deep thanks to Japan for her assistance to Cambodia in all fields and called on H.E. Yamaguchi Natsuo to continue to support Cambodia in achieving her mine and UXO clearance goal as well as to assist Ukraine and other countries in this matter.

The Cambodian former Prime Minister also expressed his pride in opening the door for Japan to send peacekeepers to Cambodia first.
