Special Envoy of Malaysian PM Praises Cambodia’s Progress


Visiting H.E. Dato Mohammad Azam, Special Envoy of Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, has spoken highly of the progress in Cambodia under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

Cambodia has been transformed from zero into a country with vibrant progress, especially Phnom Penh which has grown to become a modern city, he underlined while paying a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and CPP President, at the January 7 Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

H.E. Dato Mohammad Azam expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to Samdech Techo Hun Sèn and the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) for ensuring racial and religious harmonisation in Cambodia, and for providing many opportunities for the Cambodian Muslim community in the Kingdom.

He also lauded the cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia, and reaffirmed that Malaysia will not allow any opposition groups to use Malaysian territory for poli
tical purposes against the RGC.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the Malaysian government for its commitment not to allow extremists to use its territory against the Cambodian government, as well as for its support to the Muslim community in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo briefed the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on the current situation and experience of Cambodia in its peace process, and highly valued the growing relationship between Malaysia and Cambodia.
