Technovation 2023 for Girls in Digital Technology and Entrepreneurship Started

Cambodia kick-started early this week the Technovation 2023 competition which is the final stage of a 12-week hackathon among students aged from eight to 18 years, especially girls.

H.E. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, presided over the official opening of the event with participation of senior officials from other relevant ministries and agencies.

The Technovation 2023 is co-organised by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Tech For Kids Academy, with the support of the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP), Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), and Smart Axiata.

The competition focused on encouraging girls and young women in technology and business through training on mobile app development and entrepreneurship.

The Technovation Cambodia 2023 was commenced on Feb. 4, 2023 with training programmes for participating teams before embarking on the competition.

There were 19 groups of female students from 66 public and private schools in 15 capital and provinces across Cambodia joining the hackathon.

The minister delightfully congratulated the smooth process of the hackathon aimed to promote innovation for knowledge solutions using digital technology and entrepreneurship among students.

According to H.E. Chea Vandeth, the Royal Government of Cambodia has set out the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035 and the Cambodian Digital Government Policy 2022-2035 a main priority.

A top strategic priority of the framework and policy, he said, is to build digital human resources to promote it in all sectors for better productivity and economic growth.
