Woman nabbed for falsely calling taxis to presidential residence


SEOUL, A woman in her 30s has been apprehended on suspicion of falsely calling about 20 taxis near the presidential residence in the central Seoul district of Yongsan early this week, police said Wednesday.

The Seoul Yongsan Police Station said it was investigating the woman, who was detained Tuesday, on charges of obstruction of business.

She is accused of falsely calling 18 taxis to the entrance of the presidential residence at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes from 2:30 a.m. to 4:20 a.m. on Monday. The mobile phone number used by the suspect to hail the taxis through an application does not actually exist, the police said, adding they are investigating the case with all possibilities open.
