During the four-day holiday of Khmer Traditional New Year, from April 13 to 16, there were 64 cases of road accidents, according to a report of the General Commissariat of National Police.The accidents claimed 37 lives and injured 88 people, the same source pointed out.Seventeen (17) road accidents were recorded across the country on the first and second days each, 18 on the third day, and 12 on the last day, the report added.Last year, during the Khmer New Year celebration from April 14 to 16, there were 45 traffic accidents killing 25 people and injuring 92 others.Excessive speeding, disrespect of the priority rights, drink driving, not wearing helmet, overtaking and turning in dangerous situation are among the major causes of road accidents in Cambodia.Source: Agence Kampuchea Presse
