KUALA LUMPUR, The Communication University of China (CUC) hopes to forge closer cooperation with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) in areas related to international media practices and new communication models.
Prof Zhang Yanqiu, its Deputy Dean of the Institute for a Community with Shared Future, said the media industry in Malaysia and China faced similar challenges, especially from social and digital media, thus both sides should create more dialogue and conferences to share experience and exchange ideas.
“Bernama is impressive; a media convergence. They have a TV station, radio station and new media itself, which is very impressive.
“We are also interested in the role played by Bernama in promoting China-Malaysia relations; we are very happy to see that there is a lot of collaboration between the media from the two sides and really expect more outcomes for next year because that’s the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations,” she said when met here today.
Earlier, Yanqiu and several of her students visited Wisma Bernama (Bernama’s headquarters). They were welcomed by Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai; Editor-in-Chief Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Deputy Editor-in-Chief (News Service) Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
