ILO Appreciates Cambodia’s Rapid Progress of Social Security and Vocational Training Sector


The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has appreciated the rapid progress of Cambodia’s social security and vocational training and reaffirmed its support.

Ms. Xiaoyan Qian, ILO Director for Thailand, Cambodia, and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, highlighted the impression when received by Minister of Labour and Vocational Training H.E. Heng Sour on April 25 at the ministry.

H.E. Heng Sour thanked the ILO Director for the appreciation and spoke highly of the organisation’s contribution to the sector, particularly in soft skills training support for Cambodian youth to boost their work productivity and in institutional capacity building.

He shared with his guest the ministry’s strategic priorities to enhance workers’ professional communication, freedom, productivity, and well-being, as well as create a favourable environment for investors.

The minister also stressed the on-going national programme to provide vocational training for 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable families.

The
two reaffirmed mutual support for the rollout of their joint projects to bring Cambodia’s social security and vocational training sector to a new level.
