Private equity firm MBK Partners will acquire Japan's Alinamin Pharmaceutical for 2.9 trillion won (US$2.1 billion), industry sources said Wednesday.MBK Partners will buy the Japanese supplement maker from U.S. investment fund Blackstone in a stock purchase deal to be signed later in the day, according to the sources.Alinamin Pharmaceutical, originally named Takeda Consumer Healthcare, a subsidiary of Japan's Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., was acquired by Blackstone in 2021. It is well-known for over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins.MBK Partners' acquisition of Alinamin represents the Korean equity firm's strategy to strengthen its health care business.
