A total of 2,547 Orang Asli in four remote areas in Kelantan, Pahang and Perak today received the government's assistance in cash under the Rahmah Cash Assistance (STR) programme Series 2/2024.Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) deputy director-general (Planning and Management) Saiful Zahlan Muhamad Azmi said the recipients were from the Orang Asli settlements in Gua Musang, Kelantan; Kuala Lipis and Rompin in Pahang; and Hulu Perak in Perak.He said the distribution of cash assistance to the Orang Asli community was made possible through the cooperation between JAKOA, Ministry of Finance, Inland Revenue Board and Bank Simpanan Nasional, and was implemented specifically for Orang Asli who neither have a bank account nor have applied for the STR.'The aid distribution began yesterday, with 507 recipients receiving their cash today totalling RM202,400,' he told reporters after the event at RPS Kuala Betis here today.Saiful Zahlan added that through the implementation of the programme, JAKOA was als o able to locate the recipients who had never made a claim for STR throughout the year.Source: BERNAMA News Agency
