S. Korea to provide US$300,000 in aid to flood-hit Brazil

South Korea will provide US$300,000 worth of humanitarian assistance to Brazil to help with relief efforts in the wake of a catastrophic flood in its southern region, Seoul's foreign ministry said Wednesday.The floods from heavy rains since late April have devastated Brazil's southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, leaving more than 160 people dead and some 800 others injured. So far, 85 people have gone missing and over 580,000 people have been displaced."The government hopes that the humanitarian aid to Brazil will support the recovery of the affected areas and help residents in those areas swiftly return to their daily lives," the ministry said.Source: Yonhap News Agency
