Yonhap News wins global award for digital innovation

Yonhap News Agency’s digital product won the silver award for its digital innovation at the Asia Digital Media Conference 2024 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the award’s organizer said Wednesday.

“Yonhap GAMES,” launched in February, was selected as the runner-up for the “Most Innovative Digital Product” category, organized by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).

The product is a news supplementary content service designed for logged-in members, aimed at allowing readers to enjoy news content in a game format.

The gold award went to “Baca Cepat,” artificial intelligence-based short-form content, by Indonesia’s Kompas Cyber Media.

Yonhap News Agency was the only South Korean media organization that received an award from the 16th conference, attended by approximately 300 industry experts from around 20 countries.

WAN-IFRA is the global organization of the world’s press, comprising a network of 3,000 news publishing companies and technology entrepreneurs, and it holds legitimacy from its
60 member publisher associations, representing 18,000 publications in 120 countries.
